1. Standards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. Where reasonable, we also follow upcoming WCAG 2.2 guidance.
For our Canadian operations, we work toward conformance with:
- The Accessible Canada Act and its regulations.
- The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) Information and Communications Standards, where applicable.
- Provincial accessibility legislation that applies to digital services.
2. What We've Done
- Keyboard navigation across the application, including the Kanban board and AI generators.
- Semantic HTML and ARIA labels on interactive elements.
- Sufficient colour contrast for text and interactive surfaces (target 4.5:1 for body text, 3:1 for large text).
- Focus states that are visible without overriding the operating system's accessibility settings.
- Forms that announce errors with screen readers and that label every field.
- Avoidance of content that flashes more than three times per second.
- Resizable text without loss of content up to 200% browser zoom.
3. Known Limitations
We disclose accessibility limitations honestly. As of the date of this statement, we are aware of the following areas that may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA:
- The drag-and-drop interaction on the Kanban board does not yet have a fully equivalent keyboard-only flow for moving cards between columns. A keyboard-friendly dropdown alternative is on our roadmap.
- Some PDF resume previews may not have an accessible text layer if the underlying file does not contain one.
- Live region announcements for AI generation progress may not be present on every flow.
If you encounter another barrier not listed here, please tell us so we can prioritize it.
4. Browser Extension Accessibility
Our browser extension exposes the same accessible patterns as the web app where the browser's extension surface allows. Some extension surfaces (the popup, side panel) are constrained by the browser host; we work within those constraints.
5. Compatibility
WaterApply is designed to work with:
- Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
- Screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack.
- Operating system zoom and high-contrast modes.
6. Assistive Technology Testing
We perform accessibility testing using a combination of automated tools (axe, Lighthouse) and manual testing with keyboard and screen-reader workflows. We do not yet conduct independent third-party audits; that is on our roadmap as we grow.
7. Report a Barrier
If you encounter a barrier or have a suggestion for improvement, please contact us:
Email: waterapply1@gmail.com
Subject line: "Accessibility"
Please include a description of the issue, the page or feature where you encountered it, your operating system and browser (and screen reader, if applicable), and your contact information for follow-up. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five business days.
8. Feedback Process Under the Accessible Canada Act
Federal-jurisdiction entities subject to the Accessible Canada Act are required to publish a feedback process. Even if WaterApply is not currently within that jurisdiction, we follow its spirit:
- You may submit feedback by email (above), through a written letter to our mailing region, or through any future in-app feedback form.
- You may submit feedback anonymously. We will still address the concern raised.
- We acknowledge receipt of non-anonymous feedback within five business days.
- We track and document feedback to inform our accessibility roadmap.
9. Changes
We review and update this Statement periodically. The "Last updated" date reflects the most recent review.
